He sent the journalist two more faxes, but received no reply. He sent yet another fax informing the journalist that if he did not reply soon he would be fired. When the journalist again failed to reply, the editor reluctantly published the article as it had originally been written.

他给记者先后发去两份传真，但对方毫无反应。于是他又发了一份传真，通知那位记者说，若再不迅速答复，将被解雇。但记者还是没有回复。编辑无奈，勉强按原样发稿了。

（1）yet的用法

①yet表示“还”，用于否定句和疑问句，表示事情尚未发生，但你期望发生的事。

比如想说“我还没有收到你的答复”，就可以说：

I haven’t received your answer yet.

②yet用于否定句，强调立即，马上之意

We don’t need to start yet. 我们不必马上开始。

It took her three hours to repair her bike. 她花3小时修理她的自行车。

③yet用于表示还需要很长时间

昨天我们学习了take time表示花长时间，yet用于句子中时，可以表示还需要很久。比如：

They won’t arrive for at least two hours yet. 他们至少还要两小时才到。

④yet another 表示 又

He sent yet another fax. 他又发了一个传真。

（2）reply表示“答复”与answer的区别

answer:用于书面、口头或行动对他人的请求、询问、质问等作出回答或反应。

reply: 较正式用词，较少用于口语。侧重经过考虑的较正式答复。

respond: 正式用词，指即刻的，以口头或行动对外来的号召、请求或刺激等作出回答或响应。

retort: 指对不同意见、批评或控诉作出迅速、有力的回答，即“反驳”。

return: 正式用词，从本义“归来，回去”引申作“回答、答辨”讲时，含反驳或反唇相讥之意。
